Uncovered Voices

Uncovered Voices invited survivors to join a free series of creative writing workshops, facilitated by Safina Mazhar, Katy Hastie, Elizabeth Reeder, Nadine Aisha Jassat, and Zoe Strachan. Participants of these workshops have contributed to an anthology of poetry, fiction, visual art and non-fiction, alongside survivors from across Scotland. This anthology aims to create a multi-faceted portrait of survivors in Scotland today.

Our Collaborators

Uncovered Voices was planned in collaboration with artist and writer AK Thaysen. You can see her creative work here. This project was a partnership with Glasgow Women's Aid and the Mitchell Library, who hosted the workshops.

The Uncovered Voices anthology was launched as part of Book Week Scotland 2018. Participants of the Uncovered Voices workshops also read their work to the public as part of Book Week Scotland 2017.

Glasgow Women's Aid generously sent along a representative to our workshops. Having the skills, training and experience of a Women's Aid worker was vital to creating a safe space for all our participants.

Thank You!

This project was funded by Forest Arts,

the Scotmid Co-operative, the Scottish Book Trust,

and everyone who donated to the crowdfunder.
